Fundraising Concert – Niall Mellon Township Trust.
19th September – Magherafelt Parish Centre
Nelson Mandela said “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world”. “Education is the key to unlock the golden door to freedom”. The Niall Mellon Township Trust – Mellon Educate Initiative, wants to honour, in a meaningful way, one of the greatest iconic and humanitarian figures of our time. The Charity has organised the ‘Mandela Tribute School Building Blitz’ for November 2014. Two hundred Irish volunteers will return to Nelson Mandela’s birthplace, Eastern Cape, South Africa to build and refurbish 3 schools. St Columba’s Choir, Straw, Ballinascreen are putting on a tribute concert themed ‘Nelson Mandela, his Life and Legacy, Told in Music’ to enable one of its members, Kathleen Trolan, to participate on this very special Building Blitz. Tickets will go on sale at the end of August.
