The Spirit of God’s love

Jesus said to his disciples: “You did not choose me; no, I chose you.” Anybody who is involved in a team sport will know the tension there is in wondering if they will be picked for the team and then the delight when they are picked or the utter disappointment when they are not. Jesus has picked each one of us for his team of disciples because the task of transforming the world is so vast and because each one of us has our own unique gifts and opportunities for the task. Our responsibility is to say yes to his call and take our part in his mission. As always this begins in our homes with the most intimate relationships of human life, to make those the best they can possibly be. Our mission is also to our faith community and Parish community where we have a special relationship in the Body and Blood of Christ. And it extends to the world in which we live. This week we can refresh the enthusiasm and joy of being chosen.

Morning Prayer, when together

Ever living God, help us to celebrate our joy

in the resurrection of Christ your Son

and to express in our lives the love we celebrate.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

During the day, when apart

God of love, accept our prayers

and the efforts we make to increase our love.

Make us worthy of your gifts of love in each other

and grant us your forgiveness.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Evening/Night Prayer together

Almighty and ever living God,

you restored us to life by raising Christ from death.

Strengthen us in our love for one another.

May we feel your saving power in our lives.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: What do you think Jesus has chosen you (as a couple) to be and to do?

Talk to each other about your sacrament of marriage this week.

For others: Think of someone in your family or community whom you could encourage to come back to the practice of their faith. How will you go about it?
