 Praise and Thanksgiving.

Jesus said to his disciples: “Treat others as you would like them to treat you”. This teaching of Jesus has very wide-ranging implications for our lives. These begin in the most intimate relationships of marriage and family life. If you want to have a really good marriage, treat your husband/wife with the kind of affection, passion, generosity you would want her/him to give to you. If you want to be successful as a parent, show your children the respect, gratitude, gentleness you would want them to show to you. If you want to have a vibrant parish community, get involved in building it in the ways you expect others to do so that you will have all the amenities that you and your family want. And if you want a strong relationship with God, listen to him, respond to him the ways you want him to listen and respond to you.

Morning Prayer, when together

Father, keep before us the wisdom and love

you have revealed in your Son.

Help us, in our marriage, to be like him in word and deed.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

 During the day, when apart

Lord, as we live out our sacrament of marriage

let our worship in Spirit and truth

bring us joy and salvation.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

 Evening/Night Prayer together

Almighty God, help us to live the example of love

you have given us in Christ, your Son.

May our married love come to its fulfilment in your presence.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Questions for Action for the week.

For your marriage: In what ways could you try to understand your wife/husband better this week?

For others: Whom could you, as a couple, treat with special kindness this week?
