Feast of Christ the King

THE COUPLE THAT PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER.

 Christ the King

Jesus said to his disciples: “In so far as you did this to one of these brothers/sisters of mine, you did it to me.” There are many ways of looking at what Christianity is about and most of them are valid. This extraordinary statement by Christ brings us to the very heart of it – the absolute dignity of every human being, the beloved of God. We practise our Christianity primarily through our love for one another and our care for all those in need. They say that charity begins at home. How true that is. Very often the person who is in most need is a wife or husband who is being taken for granted. Or there is often the child or young person who has everything except real affection for which they crave. But charity cannot remain at home. It has to spread out to the faith community and through that community to the poor and marginalised. That is how we honour Christ as our King.

Morning Prayer, when together

Almighty and merciful God, you break the power of evil

and make all things new in your Son,

Jesus Christ, the King of the universe.

May all in heaven and earth give you glory

and never cease to praise you.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

During the day, when apart

Lord, we offer you the gift of our married love

in the sacrament of marriage.

Through us may your Son reconcile humankind

and bring the world to unity and peace.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Evening/Night Prayer together

Lord, you give us Christ as our King and Saviour.

Help us to live by his Gospel

and bring us to the joy of his kingdom.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: In what ways can you make this week joyful for one another?

For others: Think of some group that is working for the homeless and destitute in society.

How could you help them this week?
