 Welcoming Christ

“Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me.” Isn’t that a wonderful statement to hear but very difficult to really believe. Jesus identifies himself completely with us in all our weakness and humanity. Our task of faith is to identify ourselves completely with him. And we do this through love. When we look at the community that gathers for the Eucharist today we see very ordinary people of all kinds. The deepest reality of what we see is that we are the living presence of Christ. When we look at our homes and families we see very ordinary lives that are made up of joys and struggles. And yet the home of each one of us is a place where Christ lives because of us. And when we look at our married couples we see women and men committed to each other in love but who often treat their marriage as just another part of their lives. The sacrament of marriage is one of the major ways Christ redeems the world today.

Morning Prayer, when together

Father, you call your children to walk in the light of Christ.

Free us from darkness

and keep our marriage in the radiance of your truth.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

During the day, when apart.

Lord God, through our sacrament of marriage

you give us the power of your grace.

May our love for each other

help us to serve you faithfully.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Evening/Night Prayer together.

Lord, may our married love and our life together

give us a share of your life

and help us to bring your love to the world.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Questions for Action for the week.

For your marriage:  Plan a special day this week just to be together.

What would you personally like to do during it?

For others: How could you help to make tourists/visitors

welcome in your parish during the summer?
