 The Triumph of God

Jesus said to his disciples: “When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened”. Every now and again someone comes up with the scare about the end of the world. And there are always people to believe them. But that is not our way as followers of Christ. Our task is to transform the world through the power of love. There are many situations in our world that we cannot directly affect except through prayer and through exercising our power of voting in favour of peace and the rights of people. But there are situations in the world that we do affect directly and it is there particularly that we live out our faith in Christ. The intimate relationships of marriage and family life need to be as good as we can make them and that is within our control. And the faith community to which we belong is a place in which we can make a difference by getting involved in the needs of the world around us.

Morning Prayer, when together

Father of all that is good

keep us faithful in serving you

for to serve you is our lasting joy.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

During the day, when apart

Lord God may the gift of our married love

which we offer you again this week

increase our love for you

and bring us to eternal life.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Evening/Night Prayer together

Father, may we grow in love for each other

through the power of your Holy Spirit

so that all who make up our lives may be

drawn to know your love.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: What would you most like to have said to your wife/husband at the end of your life? Say it this week.

For others: Is there anyone with whom you need to reconcile? How can you do it this week?
