THE COUPLE THAT PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER.

 Fr. Johnny Doherty, C.Ss.R.

June 19th – 25th 2016

He gave his life for us

Jesus said to his disciples: “If you lose your life for my sake you will gain it”. The world in which we live tells us that the most important thing is to look after ourselves. And there is some wisdom in this. Jesus tells us to look after one another and then everyone will be o.k. There is even more wisdom in this. It is only when we get caught up with ourselves that we become unhappy. When we are focused on the well-being of others we can achieve great happiness. That is the way of Jesus. We live out this way of love and self-emptying first of all in the intimate relationships of marriage and family life. Our homes should be places of mutual support and encouragement, places where each person can truly be at home. The only way this can happen is when we make it happen. The same is true of our faith community.

Morning Prayer, when together

Father, guide and protector of your people

grant us an unfailing respect for your name,

and keep us always in your love.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

During the day, when apart

Lord, receive the offering of our married life.

Purify us in mind and heart

and make us always eager to serve you.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Evening/Night Prayer together

Lord, you constantly renew your life within us

through the power of your Spirit.

In your mercy, assure our redemption

and bring us to eternal life.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: How could you have a greater spirit of kindness towards your wife/husband this week?

For others: To whom could you be especially kind this week so as to make a difference in their life?
