Easter Joy

The disciples were filled with joy when they saw the Lord, and he said to them again: “Peace be with you.  As the Father sent me so am I sending you.” The world we live in tells us that all we have belongs to ourselves. Our life of faith tells us that all we have has been given to us for others. This is especially true of the gifts of the spirit, both our own spirit and God’s Spirit. We have the gift of faith so that others can come to believe. That’s the great challenge of every faith community that has to face the question: “How do we need to be so that all those around us can know the goodness of God?” The challenge of every married couple is: “How do we need to love each other so that our children can grow up in a real atmosphere of joy and peace?” And every home needs to become a place of hospitality towards others. It is to those tasks that Jesus sends us, his disciples.

Morning Prayer, when together

God of mercy, you give us new birth in the Spirit

and redeem us in the blood of Christ.

Increase our awareness of all your blessings

and renew your gift of life within us.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

 During the day, when apart

Lord, through faith and baptism and our sacrament of marriage

we have become a new creation.

Accept the offerings of your people

and bring us to eternal happiness.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

 Evening/Night Prayer together

Almighty God, may the peace that is your desire for us

be ever in our hearts.

May our love for one another bring your peace to our world.

We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: What are some of the greatest blessings of your life with one another?  Share these this week.

For others: Think of some group that is working for peace.  How can you help them this week?
