 The Way of the Lord

“How happy are the poor in spirit, theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” The greatest secret of happiness is to know that nothing we have is our own, it is all gift from God, and that we are totally dependant on God.  Life is full of so many gifts and the greatest gift of all is love. But love is a God power. The love you share in your marriage is a very special part of God’s gift, not only to you, but also to the world. Treasure it. Treasure one another for our sake. This week let yourself experience the wonder of this love you share and to which you are pledged. This gift of love is also what bonds family members to each other. It needs to be developed or it will become mediocre. And our call is to share this gift of love with all those who form our faith community with us. We do this by our friendliness, our attention to those in need, our willingness to give time to building up our community of faith.

Morning Prayer, when together

Lord our God, help us to love one another more fully,

to love you with all our hearts,

and to love all people as you love them.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

During the day, when apart

Lord, be pleased with the gift of our love.

Make us a sacrament of salvation for ourselves

and for the world we live in.

We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Evening/Night Prayer together

Lord, you increase your gifts of love in us day by day.

Fill us with faith and let that gift spread

through us to those we meet.

We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: What are three of the nicest things about your wife/husband at present?

How will you tell her/him this week?

For others: Think of someone who is mourning at present.

How will you comfort them this week?
