Yes, it is true. The Lord is risen

“What matters are you discussing as you walk along?” This question, asked by Jesus in the Gospel of this weekend, is a very important one for all of us in the Church today. There are so many important issues confronting us that we have to work our way through together. The danger is that these issues can knock the heart out of us unless they are being sorted out in a spirit of faith, hope and love. In a faith community there is the danger that we can get caught up in things that don’t really matter and spend our energy on these rather than on finding the ways we can work together to build up the Kingdom of God. It is so important that married couples and families would think about this question also. We can get so tied into unimportant things that we lose the spirit of love, and our life together becomes a burden rather than a joy.

Morning Prayer, when together
God our Father, we thank you for your love for us.
May we look forward with hope to our resurrection
for you have made us your daughters and sons
and restored the joy of our youth.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

During the day, when apart
Lord, receive the gift of our love for each other
and grant your peace to our world.
May the great joy you give us
come to perfection in heaven.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Evening/Night Prayer together
Lord, look on us, and on all we love, with kindness.
May our love for each other grow every day
so that our lives may be lived to the glory of your name.
We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.

Questions for Action for the week
For your marriage: How could you bring some extra excitement to your marriage this week?

For others: Think of some missionary group who work at bringing faith and hope to others.
How can you help them this week?
