 St Peter & St Paul

Jesus put this question to his disciples: “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” That would not seem like a question that we would be able to answer today. But for us it can be translated into the question of: “where do people look for their happiness, their fulfilment, their hope?” Everyone is looking for these in their lives, some in very strange places.  The second question Jesus asks is: “Who do you say I am?” And Peter answers: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” The core of our Christian faith is that Jesus is the only one who can teach us true human living. He teaches it very clearly as the way of love. That is the only way to happiness and fulfilment and hope – the only way to the fullness of life. This has huge implications for us in marriage, the sacrament of love; in family life, the school of love; and in our faith community, the prophet of love. The practice of our faith is measured mainly by how we love God with our whole hearts and how we love one another.

 Morning Prayer, when together

God our Father, you give us the joy

of celebrating the memory of the apostles Peter & Paul.

Through them your Church first received the faith.

Keep us true to their teaching.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

 During the day, when apart

Lord, may your apostles pray for us.

May they help us to commit ourselves fully

to our love for one another in our marriage.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

 Evening/Night Prayer together

Lord, renew the life of your church

through the power of our sacrament of marriage.

May we always be united in your love.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: Plan a special day this week just to be together. What would you personally like to do during it?

For others: Think of some group that works at making visitors/tourists welcome. How could you get involved with them this week?
