THE COUPLE THAT PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER.
Fr. Johnny Doherty, C.Ss.R.
2nd March – 8th Sunday of the Year
The God who cherishes us
Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.” That is a saying by Jesus that is hard for us to hear and listen to today. There is so much uncertainty in our world and in our Church that we can easily, and understandably, be preoccupied with what is going to happen in the weeks and months ahead. However it is a saying that we need to listen to very carefully. He is not saying that we should not take ordinary precautions in our lives. What he is saying though is that the health of the future depends greatly on how we live the present. So many securities are fragile today. We need to build up the main securities through our love for one another in marriage, in family and in our faith community. It is only together with those we love and who love us that we can make sure that the future, whatever it holds, will not damage us in any way. It is also through those relationships that we will know that God is with us.
Morning Prayer, when together
Lord, guide the course of world events
and give us and all your Church the joy and peace
of serving you in freedom
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
During the day, when apart
God our Creator, may our married love,
which we offer you again this week
as a sign of our love and worship
lead us to salvation.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Evening/Night Prayer together
God of salvation may our sacrament of marriage
bring us and all those we love to eternal life.
We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.
Questions for Action for the week
For your marriage: What are some of the nicest things about your wife/husband in recent times? Tell her/him about these this week
