“This was the Lord’s doing and it is wonderful to see.” Isn’t it amazing how we can so easily take all the wonderful things of life for granted? The result is that life becomes boring or difficult or oppressive for so many people. What makes the difference in life is the quality of our thanksgiving and praise of God and of one another. This week Christ asks us to develop this ability in a special way. Make it a week when criticism is banned especially from our homes and community and when we go out of our way to say thanks and to acknowledge the goodness of one another. This is not easy because we are so used to criticising one another either directly or through gossip. And we justify this by saying that we are only telling the truth! When we are like that we are not living our faith in Christ who only sees all that is good in each of us.
Morning Prayer, when together
Father, your love for us
surpasses all our hopes and desires.
Forgive us our failings; keep us in your peace
and lead us in the way of salvation.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
During the day, when apart
God of mercy, accept the offering of our love for one another.
Make this love a source of blessing for us,
for our family, and for all whom we meet.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord.
Evening/Night Prayer together
Father, we offer you the gift of our married love.
May our obedient service increase our love
and bring us to the fullness of your redemption.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord.
Questions for Action for the week
For your marriage: How could you surprise your wife/husband in your love this week?
For others: Think of some group that is working for the renewal of the Church.
How could you support that group this week?
