Christ the King

THE COUPLE THAT PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER.

 Fr. Johnny Doherty, C.Ss.R.

 November 20th – 26thth 2022

This is the King of the Jews

“Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” “Indeed, I promise you, today you will be with me in paradise.” This beautiful exchange between Jesus and the man dying on the cross beside him is one of the sources of hope and inspiration for people of all times. When we call him king, we are not talking about someone who lords it over us but rather of someone who brings us into the fullness of life. Even in the depths of his own suffering he has compassion for the man beside him. His kingdom can only be built on that same compassion. As his followers we are called to forgive one another as he has forgiven us. At the end of this Liturgical Year we owe it to ourselves to let the past go in so far as it holds us back from being people of great love. And we owe it to one another to build each other up in love in our homes and in our faith community. Then the world will believe in Jesus Christ.

Morning Prayer, when together

Almighty and merciful God, you break the power of evil

and make all things new in Jesus, the King of the Universe.

May all in heaven and earth acclaim your glory

and never cease to praise you.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

During the day, when apart

Lord, we offer you our sacrament of marriage

by which your Son reconciles humankind.

May it bring unity and peace to the world.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Evening/Night Prayer together

Lord, you give us Christ, the King of all creation

as our Lord and saviour.

Help us to live by his Gospel

and bring us to the joy of his kingdom.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: In what ways do you need to give to and ask for forgiveness from your wife/husband?

For others: How could you do something to help the environment this week?
