Easter Sunday 2023

 Fr. Johnny Doherty, C.Ss.R.

 Easter Sunday, April 9th 2023

He is Risen, Alleluia

“They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have put him” (Mary of Magdala). Easter is an amazing time as we renew our faith in the resurrection of Christ. Mary of Magdala was heartbroken when she thought he was gone and her heart leapt with joy when she heard him call her name. We have been going through a very difficult time at the moment. We can be despondent and ready to give up because so much that we treasure is in tatters. It is so important that we lift ourselves above the despondency and work together to make the Church what it is meant to be in our world, a people alive with the life of Christ, the love of God, and the spirit of service to one another. The starting place for this is in our homes and in our faith community. Those are the places where the real power of Christ is to be found. We have so much to live for.

 Morning Prayer, when together

God our Father, by raising Christ your Son

you conquered the power of death

and opened for us the way to eternal life.

Let our celebration of his new life raise us up

and renew our lives by the Spirit that is within us.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

 During the day, when apart

Lord, with Easter joy we offer you our love for one another.

May our love grow strong and vibrant

and may our life together radiate joy and happiness.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Evening/Night Prayer together

Father of love, watch over your Church.

Bless our love and marriage

and bring us to the glory of the resurrection.

We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.
