The Baptism of the Lord

THE COUPLE THAT PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER.

 Christ, the beloved of God

A voice spoke from heaven, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; my favour rests on him’. That is the very heart of our Christian faith. Christ is the Son of God. The practice of our faith is about living with that conviction and living it enthusiastically. In believing that Christ is the Son of God we are acknowledging that he is the one who can teach us what God is like. And he teaches us that God adores us, the way a parent adores her/his newborn child. We need to let ourselves go to that wonderful love in prayer and in joy. Christ is also the one who teaches us human life. He tells us very clearly that the only way to live is to love as he has loved us. This is particularly true in the intimate relationships of marriage and family life. It is also true in how we build our community of faith. We are a very privileged people.

Morning Prayer, when together

Almighty, eternal God, when the Spirit descended

upon Jesus at his baptism in the Jordan,

you revealed him as your own beloved Son.

Keep us your children born of water and the Holy Spirit

faithful to our calling.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

During the day, when apart

Lord, we celebrate the revelation of Christ your Son

who takes away the sins of the world.

Accept the gift of our love for each other.

Unite us with the sacrifice of Christ.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Evening/Night Prayer together

Lord, you nourish us every day.

May we hear Christ your Son with faith

and become your children in name and in fact.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: Think of your wedding day when you said yes to each other.

How will you say yes to each other this week?

For others: Think of a group that is working for justice.

How could you help that group this week?
